If You Build It - Will They Come?

You Can Drive People to Your Web site.

I read a recent article by eMarketers Daily about how people find web sites. It is no surprise that many find their way via Search Engines.

At first glance, it may seem that the Search Engines category is the clear winner. But look again and you will also see people find their way by many other methods.

What does this mean to you?

Search engines are very important, there is no doubt about that. But there are other important ways to get people to visit your site. I have listed some suggestions below.

Always put your Web address on your:

  • invoices, receipts, mailing labels
  • business cards and letterhead
  • email signature
  • newspaper ads
  • Yellow Pages ads
  • employee uniforms
  • building signs
  • company vehicles

In addition:

  • Feature your Web address prominently on newspaper and other offline ads - don't hide it away in the small print.
  • Have other sites link to your site. You can create your own link exchange by asking sites to put your link on their pages and you will do likewise.
  • Include your URL on any promotional items you give away such as calendars or coffee mugs. A daily reminder is a good way to get people to visit your site.
  • Be sure to include your Web address in all press releases you send out to members of the media.
  • Start an e-newsletter that offers tips and news related to your company or industry with links back to your site.
  • Be creative! There is no limit to what you can do!

Public Speaking Can Be Fun!

Public speaking tops the list of people's biggest fears. But did you know that it can also be FUN? Really! I just completed my 10th speech for Toastmasters making me a CTM, which is the first milestone. What a great feeling!

Below is a link to Toastmasters International. We are presently working on a Web site (I'll let you know when it is finished) for A.M. Lockport Toastmasters which is our local club that meets every Thursday morning at 7am at Friendly's.

Oh, that's not so early... It is a lot of fun and a great way to start the day. Come visit our next meeting.

About Annette Riley Web Design

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my business. Annette Riley Web Design creates Web sites for small businesses and organizations.

I combine many years experience working in small business settings with an art background and a passion both. For me, Web design is the perfect way to merge these experiences.

I don't take a cookie-cutter approach to Web design - I want to portray a real "feeling" of what your products and services have to offer. You are unique - and your Web site should be! At the same time, it must load quickly and be easy to navigate.

I invite you to visit my Web site to find out more.
