Did you know one out of five adults in Niagara County
can't read this sentence?
This means they cannot
read well enough to cope successfully as workers, parents, and citizens. This
is true of one fifth of the adult population of the U.S.
Literacy Volunteers
of Niagara County has been teaching adults to read, write, and speak English for
over forty-one years. LVNC offers a free literacy program for adults that provides
confidential, individualized instruction by well-trained volunteers.
If you or someone you know wants to: learn to read, prepare to take the GED,
or learn to speak English, call Literacy Volunteers for information about
becoming a student.
If
your group or organization would like to learn more about how LVNC is working
to improve adult literacy in our area, call 433-7014 to invite a speaker from
LVNC to your next meeting.
Literacy Volunteers of Niagara
County invites you to join them in helping people improve their lives. Experience
in tutoring is not necessary - just patience, a love of reading, and good
organizational skills. LVNC will train you in proven methods of adult learning.
