  • New Web site - Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County

Did you know one out of five adults in Niagara County
    can't read this sentence?

This means they cannot read well enough to cope successfully as workers, parents, and citizens. This is true of one fifth of the adult population of the U.S.

Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County has been teaching adults to read, write, and speak English for over forty-one years. LVNC offers a free literacy program for adults that provides confidential, individualized instruction by well-trained volunteers.

If you or someone you know wants to: learn to read, prepare to take the GED, or learn to speak English, call Literacy Volunteers for information about becoming a student.

If your group or organization would like to learn more about how LVNC is working to improve adult literacy in our area, call 433-7014 to invite a speaker from LVNC to your next meeting.

Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County invites you to join them in helping people improve their lives. Experience in tutoring is not necessary - just patience, a love of reading, and good organizational skills. LVNC will train you in proven methods of adult learning.

Change Someone's Life. Teach an Adult to Read.

    More Customer News

Congratulations to Dr. Jeanne Best of Royalton Equine Veterinary Services. Her Web site BestHorseVet.com was highlighted by the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) in their recent newsletter. This new section in their publication presents different equine practices from around the world to other members.

    Way to go Jeanne!

What I Did on My Summer Vacation

Yes that's me underneath the hat. The roller coaster is courtesy of Photoshop. I did go to Disney World recently, however, and had a great time.

I continue to be mesmerized by the vision of Walt Disney. Think for a moment how he changed animation forever. And that was just the beginning. His vision was so focused and so grand that it lives on, and grows, even after his death.

Customer service at Disney is unbelievable! Disney takes Customer Service, sprinkles it with fairy dust - laced with steroids - straps it to a rocket and blasts it into the stars.

Ok, I'll admit that sometimes the extreme customer service goes over the top - and can even be a bit goofy. But within minutes of leaving the World of Disney and experiencing the indifference of the Real World, all I could think was "I miss Mickey."

    Extreme Vacationing.

Matt is a guy who quit his job and used all the money he'd saved to spend several months traveling to thirty-nine countries. Then he did it again and had someone else pay for it.

Now Matt is quasi-famous as "That guy who dances on the internet. No, not that guy. The other one. No, not him either. I'll send you the link. It's funny."

    Check it out!
