  • New Online Store - The Winery at Marjim Manor

Don't Whine...It is Easy to Buy Wine.

The Winery at Marjim Manor has unique wines made from locally grown fruit, beautiful wine labels with clever names, resident ghosts residing in its historic mansion and a manor cat named Squeaky with his own email address. What else could it possible need?

    An online store, of course!

Thanks to recent changes in laws dealing with the shipping of wine, Marjim Manor can now ship wine to many states. You must be 21 years of age to purchase wine and a signature is required upon delivery.

The Marjim Manor Online store also has Gift items, Gift Baskets, Wine Accessories and much more. Gift items can be shipped to any state. You can even shop online and pick up your order at the Winery to save on shipping.

Creating an online store is an enormous job with so many details to think about - product information, privacy policy, customer service page, shipping rates. The details multiply when alcohol sales are involved. The experience is both exhausting and exhilarating!

I encourage you to visit the Winery at Marjim Manor's new online store and check back often for new wines, new products and gift specials!

Web Design Tip - Beware of Font Salad

Not all salads are good for you.

I’ve mentioned in past newsletters how it is important to break up text to make it easier too read. A good way to do this, for example, is to use bullet points or bolded text.

But beware of font salad! This is an often used design mistake where pages mix a variety of typefaces, sizes, weights, colors, etc. The result is usually hard to read and can look tacky.

It is best to choose one, maybe two fonts. I know that you don’t want your site to look boring, so you can use different sizes, weights or colors to logically organize information. This will make your site more interesting and easier to read at the same time.

Happy Birthday to Me! (Link of the Month)

"Yoo Hoo, It's me, my name is Pinky Lee, with my checkered hat and my checkered coat, and my silly laugh like a billy goat...!"

My birthday is this week. I love celebrating my birthday and do everything short of sending announcements. My Mom always made a big fuss over the festivities.

Here is a picture of my second birthday when my Mom gave me a "Pinky Lee" party. Pinky Lee was was an American Burlesque comic and host of a children's television show, The Pinky Lee Show in the early 1950s. His signature costume was a loud plaid suit with baggy checkered pants. Think PeeWee Herman with a Seltzer bottle.

Now that I am grown up I have a fascination with all things "retro." But at two years old, I was too young to know what all the fuss was about and I seem to be a little bewildered!
